Audio materials for the visually impaired with information about the euro

The reason for spreading information about the euro is to inform the entire population about the principles of the changeover, paying special attention to sensitive target groups. The visually impaired comprise about 1.5% of the whole population, thus forming an important group in society who need information. Other countries that have changed over to the euro have also paid special attention to the visually impaired and, using its extensive experience, the European Central Bank has compiled special audio materials for physical and electronic distribution.

The audio material for the visually impaired explains how to recognise and differentiate between euro bank notes and coins and their security features. The publication also gives an overview of the principles of the euro changeover.
